About Magfilipino

Learn Tagalog.
Connect with Filipino Culture.

Magfilipino aims to help learners build a strong, integrated understanding of Tagalog instead of piecing together disjointed rules, and embrace Filipino culture through language.

A Note From Me

Hi, I’m Kate!

I didn’t start magfilipino as a business plan. I started it because of how I have become “articulate” with Filipino language more than English, and how I became the go-to person of my friends when asking about Philippine literature stuff, owing to my more than a decade experience of working as textbook editor and content developer of academic learning materials for the Filipino subject. What I thought was just common knowledge or ordinary level of language skill, was actually not that common and ordinary for a lot of people even native Filipinos.

When I realized how many people lack confidence in their Filipino skills, how there are not enough available and accessible Filipino learning materials, and how English vocabulary seemed to have overtaken native words, I wanted to create a space gives clarity, makes Tagalog language and culture resources more accessible, and encourages learners to be more passionate about it.

Why Trust Me

I’ve worked in the publishing industry within the education sector as a writer and editor, creating textbooks, student and teacher guides, and e-learning resources for the Filipino subject. That background gave me both the technical know-how and the practical sense of how to make learning materials enjoyable and effective.

Magfilipino combines that professional expertise and genuine passion for helping learners bridge the gap between learning Tagalog and becoming a little bit more Filipino every learning step of the way.
